I’m Marco Visconti: author, occult educator, and lifelong student of the Western Esoteric Tradition.

My work is rooted in Thelema and the teachings of Aleister Crowley, and I’ve spent the better part of the last three decades exploring, practicing, and teaching ritual magick and mysticism to students all over the world.

I wrote The Aleister Crowley Manual (Watkins Publishing, 2023) as a practical and approachable introduction to Crowley’s magickal system—one that helps modern seekers navigate complex teachings without diluting their power. My second book, Stars & Snakes: A Thelemite’s Field Notes (Chnoubis Imprint, 2025), is a more personal offering, drawing from my own magical diaries and reflections over years of practice. My latest book, Aleister Crowley’s Mysticism: A Practical Guide (Watkins, 2025), explores one of the crucial steps of Thelemic initiation, the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel. I also translated Michael Bertiaux’s Lucky Hoodoo into Italian, helping to bridge different esoteric lineages.

Through my online school, Magick Without Tears, I’ve guided over 500 students through foundational and advanced topics—from Thelemic ritual and Thoth Tarot to alchemy and the Holy Guardian Angel experience. My goal is to offer teachings that are grounded, intellectually honest, and spiritually transformative. In addition to my online work, I’ve also led in-person workshops at Treadwell’s Books and the College of Psychic Studies in London, as well as immersive retreats in France and the Joshua Tree Desert—bringing the work into physical space for those called to deeper initiatory experiences.

In recent years, I’ve had the chance to bring my experience to a wider audience as a consulting expert for the Discovery Channel’s Expedition X. I appeared in one episode during Season 9, with more on the way. It’s been a fascinating opportunity to help frame occult ideas in a format that reaches beyond the usual circles—and to challenge some misconceptions along the way.

Before I stepped fully into the role of teacher and writer, I spent many years in the industrial and electronic music scene. I was a founding member of XP8, a band that explored occult and alchemical themes through music. I also toured with Faderhead and had shorter stints with bands like Grendel, VNV Nation, and others throughout the 2000s and 2010s. Music, for me, was another vehicle for magical expression—an extension of the Work.

These days, I channel most of my work into my Substack—a deep dive into occult philosophy, mythos-infused magick, and the modern praxis of forbidden texts. It’s where I explore the strange intersections of tradition and dream, praxis and madness. I occasionally surface on YouTube to share teachings or commentary, and maintain a semi-active Instagram where I connect with students, fellow magicians, and curious wanderers alike.
